Helping our members in this extraordinary time

We are collectively facing a serious global and national health and economic challenge with COVID-19. As your health insurer, we want you to know that your health and wellbeing is our priority and we are here to support you and your family.

We are delaying premium increases for all members for six months

Premium increases that were due to take effect on 1 April will now be delayed for six months so that we can provide some immediate relief to our members. This will be automatically applied to your policy; there is nothing you need to do to facilitate this.

Other changes we are making to support you

1.    Cover Extension* - It is important to provide certainty in uncertain times, so we would like to reassure you that we have extended cover for COVID-19 to all of our policies. So, if you are admitted to hospital as a private patient due to COVID-19, you will be covered.

2.    Tele-consultations* - We understand that it may not be possible to access face-to-face services under your Extras cover. We are now providing benefits for services delivered by video conferencing or telephone. These services include:

  • Psychology (including counselling and psychotherapy when provided by a psychologist)
  • Physiotherapy (including post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation, chronic musculoskeletal condition, cardiac rehabilitation or pelvic floor muscle training)
  • Dietetics
  • Speech pathology
  • Occupational therapy

Cover Extension and Tele-consultations will be available until 30 September 2020 to help you maintain your health and wellbeing throughout the COVID-19 restrictions. We will continue to review the need for these additional benefits as the year progresses.

*To be eligible for Cover Extension you must have held a myOwn policy for a minimum of 2 weeks. For services eligible for Tele-consultations you must have served the applicable waiting period for that service under your policy.
